St Kitts and Nevis Marine Drone Competition – SKNMDC

The St. Kitts Nevis Robotics Association (SKNRA) has adopted the Marine Drone Development program, headed by Shamar Pemberton in the year 2020. This particular program was introduced in the year 2019, as a college Capstone project and was identified as something worthy of developing our federation.

It is our goal to educate the youth on the use of technology to solve real-life problems with innovative and creative ideas. The Marine Drone Development Program is geared towards creating drones to survey what lies beneath the surface of the water and gather any and all useful data to improve our federation’s tourist appeal. Monitoring the state of our coral reefs, our marine life populous, and further extending our reach into more scientific analyses.

The objectives of the Marine Drone Development program:

  1. Most and foremost, this program is dedicated to advancing our nation through youth development. Getting youth involved in more self-developing programs. Especially where our seas and beaches are concerned. The marine drone development is geared towards creating drones to survey what lies beneath the surface of the water and gather any and all useful data to improve our federation’s tourist appeal. Monitoring the state of our coral reefs, our marine life populous, and further extending our reach into more scientific analyses.

  1. With our impending events, we intend on fostering networking, communication, leadership skills, teamwork, and self-confidence across the federation and further throughout the region.

  1. Marine drone development can also aid in maintaining the cleanliness of our seas, rivers, and other sources of water. Where one can remove articles of garbage from the water within the safety of standing on land, keeping themselves out of harm’s way.
