The St Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association – SKNRA invites each secondary school to send a team to compete in St Kitts and Nevis National Robotics Challenge – SKNNRC, which is a national event that takes place at a different location in the federation. Themed around the greatest challenges facing our planet, including the 14 Grand Challenges of Engineering identified by National Academy of Engineering, each year a different challenge takes center stage in an effort to foster understanding and cooperation among the youth of the world as they use their abilities to solve the world’s problems. The challenges we face as a global society need to be solved, and the next generation can meet the task — together. To learn more about past years, visit our archives.
Transforming the world with Robotics.
Dr. Neil and the FIRST Global National Robotics team have found it fitting to start a national robotics challenge in the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis and ultimately the Caribbean. It is on this premise that they formed what is called St Kitts and Nevis National Robotics Challenge – SKNNRC.
Just as the FIRST Global Challenge, the FIRST Caribbean and by extension St Kitts and Nevis National Robotics Challenge believe in providing all youths with an avenue to use their abilities to network and build relationships with each other all over the work. Participating teams are composed of students – aged 14 through 18 years – with the common goal of increasing their knowledge of Science, Technology, Art, Engineering, and Mathematics – STEAM so that they can become the next generation of scientific leaders who will work together to solve some of the world’s most pressing problems, from food security and access to clean water, to finding better medicines and securing cyberspace.
